About Me

Greetings! My name is Emmanuel Babalola, and I am thrilled to be a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the EDCI 270 Course at Purdue University. Working in close collaboration with the Lead Instructor, I am dedicated to providing comprehensive support for our learners to help them achieve their course objectives. As a passionate educator, I take pride in creating dynamic presentations, leading engaging lab sessions, grading learners’ work meticulously, and maintaining accurate attendance records. I am also responsible for preparing the classroom and supervising group activities to foster a collaborative learning environment.
To ensure that our learners stay motivated and on track, I monitor their progress regularly and offer tailored support during my open hours. I also attend weekly meetings with other Teaching Assistants and the Lead Instructor to prepare and plan, as well as discuss any challenges. In addition, I send weekly reminders to our learners about upcoming assignments, providing them with the tools they need to stay organized and achieve their goals. As an avid enthusiast of educational technology, I am excited to help our learners succeed in their academic journeys and make a positive impact in their lives.
Research Goals
Preservice Physics Teaching >>> Transition (Learning Transfer Gaps > Motivation + Instructional Design)>>>Full-fledged Teaching
My research supports preservice physics teachers in their transition to full-fledged teaching careers. I’m currently developing an eLearning professional development module that provides mentorship, support, and resources to bridge the gap between preservice education and real-world teaching experiences. Through the integration of motivational and instructional design principles, I’m creating an engaging and effective learning experience for these teachers. My ultimate goal is to empower preservice physics teachers to thrive in their new roles with confidence and competence.
My Teaching Philosophy
As an educator, I am passionate about creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that empowers my learners to achieve their full potential. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the principles of empathy, motivation, and engagement, which I believe are the building blocks of successful learning experiences. By cultivating empathy, I can connect with my learners on a personal level and gain a deep understanding of their unique needs and perspectives. This allows me to tailor my teaching approach to their interests, which in turn increases their motivation to learn and fuels their success.
To foster engagement, I apply John Keller’s ARCS theory of motivation, which emphasizes the importance of creating a learning experience that is attention-grabbing, relevant, challenging, and satisfying. By utilizing various interactive and experiential learning strategies, I aim to spark curiosity, encourage participation, and create a sense of accomplishment among my learners. My ultimate goal is to help learners develop a lifelong love of learning that extends beyond the classroom and prepares them for success in their future endeavors. I firmly believe that by creating a supportive and engaging learning environment, I can inspire my learners to reach their full potential and become lifelong learners. INTRODUCTION TO EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY (EDCI 270)
Course Description:
This course addresses the fundamentals of educational/learning technologies within both the traditional classroom, as well as the corporate/business training environments. Students will explore and evaluate various tools/technologies and determine how, when, and why such technologies can/should be infused into normal, hybrid, or fully online learning situations. The goal of the course is to help the student plan, implement, and evaluate technology for teaching and learning.

Self-Reflection To Inform Practice
Self-reflection helps me identify areas of strength and areas requiring improvement in my teaching practice. Over the past two sessions, I have focused on Keller’s ARCS theory and Bandura’s self-efficacy framework in my teaching and learning. I have encouraged my learners to write their honest feedback about my teaching using the hashtag ‘SayItTheWayItIs’. This feedback has been invaluable in helping me improve my practice as an aspiring instructional designer.
K-12 Teaching Experiences
1. Physics Teacher & Junior Engineers and Technicians’ Club Coordinator
School: Kingsfold International Academy
Responsibilities: 1. Developed innovative methods of simplifying physics problems using animations and videos. 2. Pioneered teaching using online platforms (MyScilife, Google Classroom & Edmodo) 3. Developed good communication, leadership and managerial skills through my experience as the team leader of a team size of 10 members.
Achievements: 1. Created a fundraising campaign for the club’s project through one-to-one advocacy, solicitation, and dialogue with parents through which we secured the needed fund. 2. Lead a team of ten (10) science teachers in the facilitation of four practical projects (Electric Doorbell, Extension box, USB charger & USB fan).

2. Physics Tutor & External Examination Coach

Responsibilities: Prepared learners for national and external examinations
Achievements: I edited and co-authored the tutorial Manual.

3. Physics & Mathematics Teacher, House Master & Mathematics Competition Coach
School: Olaoluwa Group of Schools
Responsibilities: 1. Coached, guided and presented learners for external Mathematics competitions. 2. Facilitated two seminars to train staff members on effective teaching and learning strategies for 21st century learners. 3. Mentored and served as the role model for the 75 boys in the male hostel. 4. Resolves disputes and enforced discipline in accordance to the school principles to erring student during hostel hours.
Achievements: Learners presented for Cowbell Mathematics competition came 8th and 11th in the State category (Their First Participation ).

Responsibilities: 1. Created and supervised browsing schedules to promote computer literacy competencies 2. Represented the management in several zonal educational meetings and submitting summarized report of the meetings 3. Worked as the School Information Technology Director 4. Taught Data processing (SS1-SS3)
Taught Computer Science (JSS1 – JSS3)
Achievements: 1. Suggested the idea of fitting all classes with a Flatscreen TV, safeguarded with a mounted metal guard. Teachers are to connect the HDMI cable from the TV to their Laptops for better instructional viewing and accessibility. This was implemented in 2017. And followed up with a day Seminar on technology integration in the 21st century. I served as the facilitator for the 3-hour seminar.

Responsibilities: 1. Designed and Set-up the school information technology studio 2. Purchased equipment, and set-up a working network hub
3. Facilitated practical hands-on workshop for staff, team heads and the management 4. Lead a Team of two (2) ICT teacher
Achievements: 1. Developed and designed an ICT curriculum for Kg 1- Basic 6. 2. Proposed an improvisation initiative for the use of Flat Screens HDMI enabled TV’s in junior classes in the absence of projectors. 3. The proposal was approved and implemented.

- Coordinated successfully the Project Physics is Fun by serving as the lead facilitator, coordinator, and subject matter expert
- Created an engaging storyline and assigned specific roles to each team member to ensure a cohesive project
